Kritta-Krates Pet Transport is one of the few pet
transporters that will transport birds.
Export procedures for birds has its own unique set of problems
as many airlines refuse to transport birds as cargo. Talk to us about this as we
can advise you on airline requirements. Depending on the country of destination,
the protocols involved with transporting birds abroad is far stricter than for
cats and dogs.
All birds must be issued with a Department of
Conservation 'Authority to Export' - permit and depending upon the species of
bird to be exported, may also require an additional Cites permit from the
Department of Conservation prior to export.
Some species of birds will require 'In House' quarantine both
in New Zealand and in the country of destination. This quarantine is supervised
by MAF in New Zealand.
In most cases an import permit from the country of destination is required and
it is possible that the official department in that country may require
Department of Conservation documents be applied for and faxed to them before an
import permit is granted from the country of destination.
It is therefore advisable to explore carefully the problems
involved with bird exports and contacting us to discuss your potential export
will be mutually helpful.
We manufacture air travel bird cages to International Air
Transport (I.A.T.A) specifications and regulations depending on the species of
bird to be exported.
These cages are designed to International standards for a purpose. Be wary of
exporters using plain boxes or altered animal cages to export birds. Birds are
known to be notoriously fickle travellers and the air travel cage has been
internationally designed for the welfare and health of your bird during the
export process.
